Sorry to get your hopes up

I'm sorry to get everybodies hopes up, but for the second week in a row there are not any really good sales. I thought with it being New Years week and lots of football that there would be some better deals. Anyway, here are the few deals this week.

Macey's:
Apples $0.79/lb
Fryer Chicken Breast $1.29/lb
Salmon Fillets $4.99/lb (I do not know if this is a good price or not, I do not like fish)
WF Frozen Vegetables $0.77 16 oz package
Old Orchard Frozen Concentrate $1.00

Albertson's
Kellogg's Cereal $1.59 (there were a lot of Kellogg's coupons in the paper 2 weeks ago)

Smith's
Stouffer's Party Size Entrees $8.99

Sunflower Market
Grapes $0.67
Pears $0.88
Grapefruit 5 for $1 (per fruit, not per pound)
Lemons 4 for $1
Key Limes 10 for $1

Wal-Mart has coupons next to the Sara Lee bread for $1 off milk with the purchase of Sara Lee bread. The bread is $1.50 a loaf and milk is $2.00/gallon. You can get both for $2.50.

I do not alway post the best price I see, I post the best price as compared to Wal-Mart so almost everything (excpet Western Family Brand) can be price matched at Wal-Mart. Milk is on sale this week for $2.25, but it is always $2 at Wal-Mart.

Happy Shopping and an even better New Year!!

So far, not much

I hope everybody had a wonderful Christmas and you all have a wonderful New Year.

In the Sunday paper, I was not impressed with any of the New Years Sales - I think they will probably come out after the New Year. I only got one coupon insert the P&G insert.

Ream's - located at the bottom of the Our Town section in the paper (of course has lots of produce!!!) This sale goes from Dec. 29, 2008 - Jan 03, 2009

Cucumbers 3/$1

Red grape Tomatoes $0.99 per cup

Green Cabbage $0.39/lb

Red and Gold Bell Peppers 2/$1.00 (buy lots and cut up and freeze what you do not use fresh, as long as the frozen peppers are cooked into a dish they taste the same, I do this with the peppers left in my garden at the end of the season.)

Zucchini $0.69

1 lb mini carrots $0.69

Medium Yellow Onions 4 lbs/$1

Red, Green, Romaine Leaf Lettuce $.079 each

Cello Whole or Sliced Mushrooms $0.99/ 8 oz. pkg

Large Hass Avocados $.69 each

Walgreens
$.10 digital prints or prints from film when you purchase 50 or more 4X6 prints. This is a coupon and I do not know if this can be price matched at Wal-Mart or not.

Hopefully there will be a lot more grocery sales in the Tuesday inserts. I will try to post tomorrow, but no guarentees I have YW tomorrow night.

No Ads This week

Sorry, I have not seen any new ads this week. Look at pinchingyourpennies.com to see if there is anything.

Also, be careful of after Christmas sales!!! If you don't need it, don't buy it. I love the show Ugly Betty - last week Betty gave Amanda a great money saving tip. Amanda came in the apartment with about 10 shopping bags, she said "look at all the stuff I got on sale, I saved so much money!" Betty responded with, "No, you didn't save ANY money, you spent money. If it's on sale and you don't need it, you are not saving any money."

With just over one week left until Christmas, is everybody ready??? Hopefully some of these grocery sales will help you with your bill for Christmas shopping. Don't forget your ads and bring them to Wal-Mart to price match. You can not price match generic. If Western Family is cheaper then Wal-Mart generic, Wal-Mart will not price match their generic. What do you think?

This morning before church I was searching the paper for all of the great deals to post and I found an article in the Life and Style section called "How to tell kids Santa's haul will be smaller." I read it in hope of being able to put some possitive notes on my blog about this issue. I'm sure this issue faces a lot of us this holiday season. The article talked about having age appropriate converstation's with you child. Which I agree with. My son wants the big spike dino that is $130 - he's not getting it. I told him that it was too much money and he would not get it for Christmas. He then said "that's okay, Santa will bring it." I told him that is was too big of a toy for Santa to make in his workshop. That seemed to help him understand that he really wasn't getting that dino, but we looked at others that he also liked (that were $8 for 2). The article also said what to do with a child that throws a fit at the end of Christmas because they didn't get what they wanted. What would you do? I like to think I have been raising my children to be a little more greatful than that. The article suggests that you take them into another room and let them scream and yell. At the end, hug them and tell them that you are sorry they didn't get everything that they wanted but maybe you could each but in some money and get it in a few months. I'm not sure what I would do, but I don't think I would do that. I don't tell my kids what they are getting, but I gear them in that direction - kind of like with Spike the dinosaur. Anyway, I know this is kind of random, but that article really bothered me.

No big sales like at K-Mart last week. The Ream's ad has a lot of great produce.

Brocolli - $0.59
2lb cello carrots - $0.89
Green bell peppers - 3/$1.00
Cucumbers - 4/$1

That's really all that was in the Sunday paper - hopefully there will be more in theTuesday ads.

Great Deal at K-Mart

If you have not gone to K-Mart yet to take advantage of the double coupon sale - GO!!! Bring all of your coupons and spend a little big of time and save a lot of money. I bought 2 Dove shampoos, 2 Dove conditioners, 2 Glade carpet freshners (the stuff you spinkle on your carpet then vacuum up), 3 pak of Zest soap, and 2 glad arisol air freshners for $6.11. I was pretty excited. I saved about $12.00.

At Wal-Mart there is a lot of great sales to price match, especially on produce.

If any of you went to Smith's last night - I'm really sorry!!! There really was a sale, but there wasn't much there. Everything went so fast, that when I got there about 6 pm all of the good stuff was gone. I guess I did get eggs. I shouldn't have gone though - the world was telling me not to go, but I went anyway. I was going to be there at 3 pm. As I was getting my kids ready, my daughter fell off of the coffee table and hit her cheek and eye on her sippy cup - so now she has a black eye. After 15 minutes we finally make it out of the house and to the car. I opened the door and realized that I left my daughters car seat in my husbands truck!!! So we went back inside. Finally, my husband came home and I got the carseat. On the way out the door my kids bonked their heads together, now they both have bruises on their foreheads. After ALL of that I really shouldn't have gone, but I did anyway. At least I got eggs!!!

K-Mart Deals

This week K-Mart is doubling coupons. They do not except on-line coupons. Bring your coupons and find great deals on Christmas candy, Dove shampoo, and more. In the ads Dove hair care is $3.79 and there were $1.50 coupons in the paper a few weeks ago. Double the coupon, you will get $3.00 off!!! You will probably have to take your coupons to the store and see what you see. Post any great deals that you find. I will be going on Friday and will ad to this post any great deals.

Check out the Ream's ad in the back of the OUR TOWN section of the Sunday paper. It is the usual produce, lettuce, cabbage, carrots - but it is always nice to get a great deal!!!

How did you do?

How did everybody do yesterday? My sister-in-law and I went out at 5:15, but we both had to be back by 6:45am. I can't post everything I got because I do not my want my tricky tricky husband to read this blog and see what I got him. I will say that I paid $60 for his gifts and they retail at $120, so not too bad. I also got a bunch of emergency kit supplies at Recreation outlet for $15, for my brother and sister. My best find was the TMX cookie monster and ernie. I got each of my kids one and my nephew one for $5 each. That was at Big Lots. It was really funny, Kylie and I were some of the first in line. As we walked in, I asked an associate where they were. The toy was underneith another display and wasn't easily seen. We walked right to it as the rest of the people there ran right past to the toy isle. By the time we stood up from getting the toys we were caught in a wall of women grabbing at the dolls!!!

Keebler Club crackers $0.99

Questions?

Camille asked me last night about Wal-Mart price matching. She ask if Wal-Mart will honor a promotional price (Albertson's is selling turkey's for $0.39/lb if you buy $50 in groceries) - would Wal-Mart honor that. No, they do not. Wal-Mart does not price match promotional prices, percent off, dollors off, or double coupons. They will only do an EXACT price from an advertisment. Hope that makes sense and helps. If you have any questions, please just ask or post it in the comments and I will respond.

Some great deals

Grapes $0.89/lb

The start of The Frugal Fugal

As some of you know I HATE it when people mix my last name - Fugal - up with the word - Frugal. Well, I figured I would embrass the back nickname and use it to my advantage. My family's budget has changed and I have started to do everything that I can to save money. I used to coupon and sale hunt before I had kids and know 4 years later I am back at it again and have had a lot of people ask me about it. I thought I would start this blog to help my friends. I am going to update it at least once a week with a "DEAL OF THE WEEK". For today I will just share some tips I have learned along the way.

1. I use the website http://www.pinchingyourpennies.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=62
it has a lot of sales posted, but it takes a while to sift through it

2. I shop sales WITH coupons. If you do not get the Sunday paper - share your unused coupons or ask somebody for their coupons that do not use them. Also the above web address will have a lot of online coupons. Most stores DO NOT except printed coupons. Albertson's in the only one I have found that will except them.

3. I keep a coupon book to organize my coupons. It takes a little bit of time but completely worth it in money saved. I use a 3 ring binder filled with baseball card holders. I put the coupons in the slots for the cards. In the back of the binder I keep all of the sale ads.

4. Wal-Mart is really good at price matching - but you have to have the ads to show the clerks.

5. I buy what is on sale and stock up. It is a lot cheaper to buy when something is on sale and have it on hand for later then to need it right away and have to pay double for it. (I buy shampoo and toothpaste when it is free or $0.25 - I have a ton but I get if for super cheap)

6. If you don't use it, don't buy it. No matter how cheap it is (even if it is free you still have to pay sales tax)

7. Use all of your produce from your garden (or your neighbors) - most of it can be frozen or canned. I cut up peppers and freeze them to have them all winter. It is much cheaper then $1.00 per pepper in the winter.

For the moment that is all that I can think of. Most of the sales are post on Tuesday's and start on Wednesday's. I will try to post around then. If anybody sees a great sale that they want to share - please post a comment to share.

Melissa P. told me that there are GREAT prices at the grand opening of the new Smith's Marketplace in Lehi - it is by Micron. She said the milk is $1.00, bread is $0.99 (which can be frozen), cereal for $1.50, fruit snacks for $0.50, and you can probably find some coupons to go with these sales. I have not been - I've only heard about it.

Please post good deals and sales that you see to we can all benifit!!!
