Sunday Paper and Easter Candy Sales

I hope everybody likes my new format that I figured out how to do. Hopefully it will make reading the sales a little bit easier.

My husband suggested putting in as many Easter candy sales as possible, so we could all start getting a bag or two each week until Easter. (I think he just really wants candy). But, I still thought it was a really good idea.

Don't forget that Western Family (WF) can be price matched for the Wal-Mart Great Value Brand.

Sunday Paper

Happy Monday morning to everybody - I hope you had a great weekend!!!

There was one coupon book in the Sunday paper

Ream's
Aparagus - $0.99/lb
2 lb cello wrapped carrots - $0.99/bag
Artichocks - $0.99
Grapefruit - $0.29/lb
Large Johagold, Brauburn, Cameo, Granny Smith, Red delicious, and Golden delicious Apples - $0.69/lb

There were 4 coupons to TANGER OUTLET stores in Park City - they can be used at any of the stores for 20% off

Albertson's

4 - double coupons (up to $1.00)

That's about all worth noting. Check out the links on the right of my blog if you want to see a complete list of sales - pinching your pennies and grocery guru.

Sis. Allred has asked me to do a class in our ward, when she gets that all setup I will let everybody know.

Remember when price matching at Wal-Mart, be on the safe side and BRING YOUR ADS. Also, keep your recipts for a little while. Wal-Mart has a great return policy made easier with a receipt.

If you are buy plants, trees, shrubs, anything like that, if it dies within a year you can bring it in for a FULL refund or replacement with the recipet. Most nursery DO NOT do that. 2 years ago I bought $200 worth of bushes from Lindon nursery - all of them died so I returned them, I was only gived 1/2 credit because they "have no control over the environment or how well you take care of them". So I used the $100 to get more bushes, well those DIED. I promise I am not a bad gardner and I take good care of my plants. So I returned those bushes. Anyway, long story short I have 2 bushes with my $200!!! We have bought 10 roses bushes from Wal-Mart and kept the recipet for 1 year - not one of our plants dies and they were much cheaper.

Wal-Mart called me back

Well, I called Wal-Mart customer service this morning. They said that each Wal-Mart can say which ads they will price match, so the following information is for Lindon Wal-Mart ONLY. A manager from the Lindon Wal-Mart called me back this afternoon. I talked to Alicia, the front end manager; she was so nice and more than willing to answer all of my questions. Here is the information that she gave me.

Stores that they DO price match:
Albertson’s
Smith’s
Ream’s
Sunflower Market
Buy-Low
She isn’t sure why cashiers have been saying that they no longer price match Sunflower Market or Buy-Low, she was very apologetic and said she would make sure to correct that.

Stores that they DO NOT price match:
The local Hispanic markets
She said that she went and looked at those local markets and the quality was not as good as Wal-Mart’s.

You can only price match EXACT items.

You CAN price match meat, but it MUST be the same thing, not similar, but the exact same.

You CAN price match produce, but it MUST be the same thing, not similar, but the exact same.

You can price match brand name (same size, weight, etc.) for the exact same thing at Wal-Mart

You can price match store brand name to store brand name. (i.e. Albertson’s brand Butter for Wal-Mart brand butter)

If an ad says “While supplies last” that doesn’t matter – the price is still good as long as Wal-Mart still has the items (no substituting items)

Make sure the ad has not expired

Some ads have limits – you can still only get that limit. (i.e. 2 liter soda for $1 each, limit 4 – you can still only get 4)

Only manufactures coupons are accepted, NO printed coupons, NO double coupons, NO store only coupons (i.e. sometimes Albertson’s will have coupons in their ads that can only be used at Albertson’s, those CAN NOT be used at Wal-Mart).

NO price matching on gimmick promotions. (i.e. Albertson’s or Smith’s will have a sale if you spend $10 you will get $3 off so the final price of each product is $0.70, the $0.70 price will NOT be price matched)

NO price matching on percentage off (i.e. 50% off regular price), price match has to be a dollar amount

NO price matching on buy one get one

I hope this helps all of you and that you have learned a few new things (I know that I sure did). Please follow the rules that Wal-Mart has for price matching. Alicia said that if anybody has any trouble with the cashiers please talk to her about it (Alicia, front end manager). She also said, please be patient with the two new Wal-Mart stores opening in Saritoga Springs and Cedar Hill most of the experienced cashiers have gone over to those stores so most of the cashiers in Lindon are new. If you have a problem, please get the name of cashier so Alicia can correct the cashier. If anybody has any other questions please ask or ask Alicia at Wal-Mart.

Wal-Mart Policies

I called Wal-Mart customr service to get more of a clarification on their policies for price matching and couponing. They said that is done on a store basis. So they took all of my information and complaints that all of you have told me, they said someone from the Lindon store would call me. I have not yet recieved a call yet, but I just talked to customer service about 15 minutes ago - let's see how long it takes Lidon WM to call!! Are there any other questions or concerns about Wal-Mart you want me to ask the person that calls me back??

Sunday Paper

There is a LOT in today’s Sunday paper!! To start off with I wanted to show you the results of a national survey that was in the paper today. The average family cost per monthly grocery bill that a family of 4 with 2 kids under 5 ranges from $524 to $1,014. And for a family of 4 with 2 kids under 11 is $603 to $1,182. I can hardly believe that!!! I don’t know if I am just so supper cheap or what, but my monthly cost is around $300 and my goal is $200. So how does everybody else do? Lindon Wal-Mart is being a real stinker to people. I have had a lot of complaints from people. My friend today told me she priced matched most of her shopping the other day and the cashier was NOT happy. He (in not such a gentle manner) put her canned goods in a bag. When she got home two of them were dented. Another cashier would not price match some of my friends stuff because the ad said “while supplies last”. So my friend (being so awesome and witty) said that she would call the store to find out if they had any of that product left. The cashier finally price matched her stuff. I am also starting to get lip from the cashiers about price matching. I was just going to let the whole thing go, until I saw a commercial this weekend on TV. The commercial was for Wal-Mart – it said that they will price match ANY advertised price. Has anybody else had any trouble price matching at Wal-Mart? I am going to find a number for somebody higher up then Lindon and get an exact definition of “any advertised price”.

Money saving tips

Macey's is having their caselot sale for one more week. Most of the great deals you can get at Macey's you can also get at Wal-Mart for about 5 cents cheaper (because they are marked down or the everyday price is cheaper).

There wasn't anything that really stood out to me in Sunday paper. At Wal-Greens there is Colgate or Aquafresh toothpaste for 99 cents and there have been coupons in the paper the last few weeks. That is about the only great deal.

At Macey's do not forget to go to the back of the store by the milk - that is were they have carts of clearance. I got a WONDERFUL deal on Saturday. I got a package of 8 gelete razors and a 512 MB flash drive for $0.96!!! I could hardly believe it.

I have been writing down any tip that I can think of - here are some that wrote down last week.

#1. - Check the price per ounce or unit, just because it is bigger does not mean you are getting better deal

#2. Cut coupons & ads and keep them ORGANIZED. It is too hard to shuffle threw them while you are checking out at the store. 2 weeks ago I did not have my coupons organized and I could not find the coupons or my ads and I missed out on about $25-$30 savings. I was soooo mad at my self.

#3. Make a menu for the week, two weeks, or month. The more you have planned out, the less you buy.

#4. Go to the store only once!!! I go only once a week - but buy for 2 weeks worth of menus. I like to buy fresh produce once a week. The less you go to the store the less you impulse buy.

#5. Make a list and check it twice (just like Santa)!! As you need (not want) something write it down on a list. Then refere back to #4, only go once a week with your list, coupons, and price matching ads in hand. The cashier may be snippy to you and the people behind you may be annoyed, but guess what??? You saved a LOT of $$$MONEY$$$.
